Inclusion Together: A new online resource for working better, together.

16 August @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Best outcomes for children are achieved when early childhood intervention professionals, early childhood education and care services and families work well together. The Inclusion Together resource is a framework for collaboration that provides practical information, strategies and tools that promote a shared understanding of partnership and inclusion for all stakeholders.

This online session will walk you through the resource and unpack some of the central themes including:

  • collaboration as a journey;
  • the concept of a team ‘with the child’ rather than a team around the child to ensure the child’s voice is heard and valued in decisions that affect them; and
  • a focus on understanding the perspectives of other team members and finding common ground to work on together.

Join us, along with Emma Pierce and Glen Newman (bios available below). There will be opportunity for small group discussion as we work through each section of Inclusion Together.

This is a members only event. Not a member? Join now!

Emma coordinated the inter-agency development of the original Working Together Agreement package for Early Childhood Intervention Australia. She has previously worked as Resource Coordinator with the NSW, ACT and QLD Inclusion Agencies, and in the past managed the early intervention program at Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), as well as working as a consultant for Plumtree Children and Families. Emma has lectured in inclusive practices at Western Sydney University and in the autism program at Griffith University. Emma currently manages the NSW Sector Capacity Building Program at KU Children’s Services. Emma is passionate about working with educators to promote true inclusion for all children.

Glen works for the NSW/ACT Inclusion Agency under the Inclusion Support Program which focuses on building the capacity and capability of educators in ECEC services to include all children. Glen has previously worked for the Australian Children’s Education Authority (ACECQA), and during this time developed resources for the ECEC sector, including resources to raise the awareness of educators about their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act. Glen is committed to supporting educators in ECEC services to understand and implement best practice, where the rights and voice of every child is valued and respected.
