About the presenter:

Clare Batkin is an occupational therapist, clinical educator, and owner of the clinical education business Your OT Tutor. Clare has 15 years experience working as an OT across public and private sectors, in both hospital and community settings. Her clinical work currently involves a caseload of adult NDIS participants, particularly those with physical conditions, and she has had experience completing Functional Capacity Assessments as an independent expert OT for participants contesting decisions at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Clare also works as a sessional academic and has presented her clinical education initiatives at a number of national conferences.

About the session:

In this session Clare will take you through a step-by-step process for how to complete a Functional Capacity Assessment for NDIS participants. The following steps will be covered:

– Pre-assessment planning

– Information gathering, including interviews, observations, and standardised assessments

– Determining your recommendations

– Writing and submitting an FCA report

A case study, practical examples, and extra tips will be incorporated throughout to help you apply what you are learning straight away. This session will be primarily focused on FCAs for adult NDIS participants, however, some examples relevant to paediatric FCAs will also be mentioned.
